The Morgan Impact Bend-Angle Nail Tester (MIBANT) is manufactured and is available from Bentech Manufacturing in Roanoke, Va.

The Morgan Impact Bend-Angle Nail Tester is a standard device for testing bending resistance of pallet nails and is described in ASTM F680, ‘Standard Test Methods for Nails.’ The nail bend angle, called the MIBANT angle, is a required input parameter for the Pallet Design System computer program.

The MIBANT device formerly was available through Duo-Fast Corporation. Duo-Fast stopped supplying it, however, and it was temporarily unavailable. The Virginia Tech pallet and container research laboratory, with permission from Duo-Fast, sought a new manufacturer.

Bentech manufactures to order new MIBANT Model TE-54A devices. Virginia Tech will assist with calibration requirements and also will continue to offer MIBANT testing as part of its fastener quality analysis contract testing service.
