Pallet Chief offers four basic models of nailing machines that can assemble pallets from 34x34 to 58x58. Pallet Chief also will manufacture special size machines.

According to Pallet Chief, the Pallet Chief 1 can produce 200 pallets per day, and Pallet Chief 2, 300; the Pallet Chief 3 machine can nail 400 pallets per day and the Pallet Chief 4, more than 800.

Pallet Chief nailing machines are simple to operate; workers can learn to operate them without special educational requirements.

Baker Develops New Chamfering Machine

Baker Products has introduced a new chamfering machine. The Baker SureChamfer is a high-production machine for producing quality pallet components and has been engineered for fast, easy, smooth operation. It is capable of chamfering 2,500 boards per hour, according to the company.

The Baker SureChamfer features an easy system for changing the set-up – switching the index discs and adjusting the outfeed hopper for a new board length. Change-over time is less than 5 minutes.

The feed system is tilted at a 20-degree angle to keep material aligned before and after entering the cutter head to help prevent jamming.

Other features include a floating cutter that automatically adjusts to board variances, full automatic chain drive infeed and outfeed, and all electric power.

The Baker SureChamfer can chamfer boards from 3-1/2 inches to 6 inches wide and from 24 inches to 54 inches long.

Stamp Co. Develops New Branding Alloy

The Schwerdtle Stamp Co., which manufactures dies for branding pallets, has developed a new alloy for superior branding results. The new dies are suitable for branding pallets with the IPPC mark or other labels.

The new alloy achieves a good balance of properties. It performs well at higher temperatures, creates excellent branding results, and can be cut with special CNC tooling.

The new alloy can be engraved with fine detail, and it has been shown to give good, clean imprints at high production speeds. It also is durable and attains a long life, according to the company.

Schwerdtle Stamp Co. developed the new die for use with automatic pallet nailing machines because of the harsh working environment for branding dies. At higher temperatures, most metals flatten and deform, oxidize and flake during use.

Eagle Introduces 3 in One Table

Eagle Metal Products has introduced a new work table that can be used by pallet recyclers for three tasks. The new 3 in One work table can be used to splice stringers, repair stringers, and as a work station to build or repair a pallet.

The jig for stringer splicing is inserted into the table top, providing a unit for splicing operations. With the jig removed, the table can be used for repairing stringers or as a work station.

The press for splicing and repairing stringers is powered by a 1.5 hp, 110 volt motor and pump; push button switches are located on each side of the table for two hand operation and safety.

A convenient shelf under the table can store plates, power nailing tools, and other tools and supplies.

Wood-Mizer Introduces Lathe for Portable Mills

Wood-Mizer has introduced a lathe attachment for use with its portable sawmills in order to process logs into multi-sided or round wood components. The new Lathe-Mizer fits all Wood-Mizer portable sawmills except the L10 Ultra-Compact model.

The Lathe-Mizer is attached to the bed of the sawmill. It features an easy to use locking system to secure the log
and is powered by a 1 hp 115 volt ac electric motor.

The log is turned one stage at a time, and the sawmill’s band blade is used to cut the sides. The pre-set locking positions can be used to cut three, four, six or eight sided posts.

The Lathe-Mizer can be used to make components for furniture, stairs, porches, decks, fencing, and other projects.

The Lathe-Mizer can be used with logs up to 13 inches in diameter and 8 feet, 4 inches long. It can produce multi-sided components ranging from 3-13 inches in diameter and round components as small as 3 inches in diameter.
