Sorbothane System Reduces Vibration

Sorbothane Inc., an Ohio-based company, has developed components for a new pallet system that reduce vibration and impact damage to high value cargo in over-the-road and air transportation.

Sorbothane is an energy-absorbing proprietary material that has been used to protect critical cargo in a variety of applications.

Sorbothane pads can be placed on the top deck of a conventional panel or deck pallet. Another panel or deck is placed on top of the Sorbothane pads, and then the cargo is placed on the top panel. The approach effectively isolates the cargo from damage-causing impacts, according to Sorbothane.

Sorbothane engineers can assist pallet manufacturers in determining the shape, size and location of the Sorbothane pads and the loading configuration to achieve the desired shock absorption performance. Sorbothane also can be custom molded as an integral shock mount within the product.

Sorbothane maintains stability and flexibility over a broad temperature range and returns to its original shape after repeated compressions.

Pendu Adopts New Logo

Pendu Manufacturing Inc. has developed a new logo for identifying the company’s machinery products. The company recently shipped its first machine with the redesigned logo.

The logo change coincides with the final consolidation of the Cornell Equipment line and manufacturing facilities, which was acquired by Pendu earlier.

"It just makes sense to not have two logos competing in the market," said Pendu president Marlin Hurst. The new logo provides a "consistent identity across the full product line," he said.

The new Pendu logo features a yellow oval surrounding a forward-slanting Pendu name. It was created to give the company a modern, contemporary look.

In addition to being branded on the company’s machinery, the new logo is being phased in on Pendu’s literature and advertising.

Pendu Manufacturing is a leader in the design and manufacture of machinery and equipment for sawmills, pallet manufacturers, log home manufacturers, and other forest products businesses.
