It is with great sadness that Wood-Mizer shared the news on the loss of their dear friend and colleague, Steve Clark, who lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, January 17, 2010. As the President of the Wood-Mizer sawmill division, Steve not only loved the company and its employees but also the industry. One of his last trips for the company was in October when he traveled to The Official Paul Bunyan show in Ohio where he visited with customers, vendors, and industry colleagues.

            Steve was very comfortable among the wood industry. In fact, his 23-year career with Wood-Mizer started in the company’s wood products division. His passion for the company propelled him into a leadership role where he touched the lives and hearts of many. With a down-to-earth approach, Steve shared his knowledge of sawmills and blades but also shared his life by connecting with people. He loved the Lord and willingly shared his faith in the workplace.

            With a smile, joke, helping hand, or an encouraging word, Steve made Wood-Mizer a better company.

            Steve lived in Brownsburg, Indiana, with his wife, Teri, and son Todd. His other children include Brandon Clark and wife Amanda, Andrea Lewman and husband Nate, Jeremy Clark and Kimi Jones, Sara Schlienz and husband Alan, Meggan Delong and husband Keith, Lucas Peterson and wife Callie, and Amanda Peterson. His life was further blessed with 10 grandchildren, a niece and three nephews.

            Steve was a member of Connection Pointe Christian Church. One of his favorite missionary trips included helping at the Chicago-based Roseland Community Good News Daycare which provides Christ-centered, nurturing, and free day care for children of teenage moms, college moms, and low income moms.

            Whether it was directing Wood-Mizer strategically, making a difference in the industry, or helping those in need, Steve was a servant-leader who will be deeply missed.
