Digital Edition Makes Life Easier

            I am very impressed with your digital version of the Pallet Enterprise magazine. The ease of browsing through the magazine is the best I have ever used with any online publishing including my local newspapers whose budgets would be substantially larger then yours. The ability to make notes on the pages and share them with my managers is impressive.

Editor’s Note: Thanks for the kind words. The digital edition of the Enterprise offers a number of advantages, including: direct Web and e-mail links, an online archive, free global access, keyword searching, translation services and notation functions.

            The notation function is a great way to highlight points of interest and share with other members of your workplace team. All you need to do is visit www.palletenterprise.com/ and click on the digital edition icon. Once the latest issue comes up, review through it and click on the “Notes” icon on the top navigation bar. This will bring up the notes screen, click “Add” and then click on the part of the page where you want to leave a note. Click anywhere on the note to type your comments. Mark as many pages as you want with notes. You may then send individual pages or the entire issue with notes on it to others by clicking the “Share” button. To share with multiple contacts, add more than one e-mail address separated by commas.

Future Shock: Predictions, Warnings & Musings

            As you may remember I was on the Pallet Committee back in the late ’80s and early ’90s.  The pallet committee prior to us had developed the GMA pallet standard.  Our main contribution was dealing with the systems aspect of a pallet pool.  This led to rental pools.  It would be wonderful if the pallet industry would develop and support a cooperative pool and would probably be the low cost option. 

            I don’t think history supports a volunteer system.  It seems that there has to be a staff and profit motive to make someone want to make pallet standardization and a cooperative pool their prime objective.  I don’t know what the current status of the Canadian pool is but that came close to being such a pool.  I see that you identify only “limited success” but hope that would help with “adequate competition” to the market.
