ICE Develops New Blade for Recyclers
International Carbide & Engineering Inc. has developed a new 10-inch, 40-tooth carbide-tipped saw blade for pallet recyclers. The blade increases cutting life by 400%-800%, according to ICE.
Although not a true nail-cutting saw blade, field tests have demonstrated typical cutting life of two days or more when sawing recycling pallet lumber, according to ICE. Other economy carbide-tipped saw blades must be discarded after two to four hours of cutting recycled lumber, the company noted.
ICE developed a new, special bore it has called the ICE QC (Quad-C) Bore™. It allows users to easily modify the bore from the standard 5/8-inch bore to 1-inch or 1-1/4 inches.
The new ICE blade is manufactured to industrial specifications utilizing laser-cut saw steel, special carbide tips, precision sharpening, expansion slots and machine tensioning.

BCS Furnace Is UL-Certified
Industrial wood furnaces manufactured by Biomass Combustion Systems have been UL391 re-certified by an independent testing company, the company said in a statement.
The furnaces, which have been on the market for over 20 years, originally were certified in 1991.
The Underwriters Laboratory 391 standard test addresses manually fueled, solid fuel-fired central furnaces that burn solid fuels, including wood.
The Biomass Combustion Systems Model 36 800,000 BTU Shop Heater was found to be in compliance with applicable performance and construction requirements. The smaller, 30-inch Shop Heater also was found in compliance.
“By independent UL391 certification, we are able to serve our customers better,” said Charles Cary, owner of Biomass Combustion Systems.

Weima Develops Press For Square Briquettes
Weima America has developed a new briquette press that produces square briquettes. The square briquettes can be stacked for easier handling, better packaging and increased marketing opportunities compared to round briquettes.
The Weima TH70K briquette press produces briquettes by hydraulic pressure only and without the need of a binding agent. The hydraulic drive of the pre-compressor/filling cylinder and the main press cylinder is applied via a self-contained pump.
The press is available in an optional Duo version that doubles production, which lowers operating costs and increases efficiency. The Duo model provides the capability of producing both square and round briquettes.
German-based Weima also manufactures shredders and grinders for the woods products industry.
